As we select startups for the currently open HFX program, we are also receiving valuable support from our advisor, Hideki Kuriyama.

In Hokkaido shortly after Japan’s Golden Week holidays in May, Miyata and Uematsu from Scrum Ventures met with Mr. Kuriyama to brief him on the startups that had applied to the program at that point.

Mr. Kuriyama shared his insights on the challenges of regional logistics in Hokkaido, as well as the importance of sleep and nutrition for the health of athletes and local residents.

At the start of the program, Mr. Kuriyama also shared the following video message.

HFX is still accepting applications from startups. The application deadline is May 31, 2025.

Approximately 10 startups will be selected each year, for a total of around 30 startups over three years, across five categories: Sports, Entertainment & Stadiums; Food & Agriculture; Mobility; Sustainability; and Well-being. The program will support the testing and implementation of their technologies and services.
